Update - We were able to successfully get to the tower site last week
The power issues caused the transmitter to fail
A new transmitter was ordered and is arriving today
Engineering will be installing the transmitter as soon as possible
We have identified a propane company who will attempt to get to the tower site when weather / roads permit later this week
We continue looking at options for an alternative site to utilize when there are issues at Palomar

Update - Summary of KSDW Status -
As a reminder there is no city / county power at the tower site. 100% of the power is generated on site, either via solar or via generator.
During the winter months the generator runs more frequently, as less solar power is generated, thus running through propane more rapidly, requiring more propane deliveries.
We have approved the replacement / upgrading of several solar panels to improve the performance of solar and have been waiting on the contractor to perform the work.
Over the past two years, it has been increasingly difficult to find a propane provider to service the remote site (the most reliable provider went out of business).
Our current provider has been reasonably reliable but after their truck got stuck trying to get up the mountain just before Christmas, they are not currently willing to send a truck back up the mountain.
We have contacted several other propane providers in the area and have yet to be able to secure a delivery, but we are still trying (one company is a no, another is not taking new customers, and a third is a subsidiary of the company we are currently using that is considering whether they will go back up or not).
With the propane truck getting stuck, our lessor has asked us to not take any further unaccompanied trips to the site. We have messages into them to request a meeting, as this would further impede our intervention at the site.
Because of these issues, we have begun investigating a potential alternate site that would act as a backup when Palomar is down. Similar to if Santiago’s goes offline, we can transmit from San Clemente

Update - Engineering is aware. No updates at this time.

Identified - KSDW is off the air due to no propane fuel. Engineering could not get propane delivery to the site due to road conditions. This will cause the station to be off the air for long periods until there is enough sunlight to power the station.
